The Role:

The BI Developer is a key member of our Data team working on a variety of projects within a distributed scrum environment across the UK and Spain. The BI Developer will become an expert in our strategic technology platform, Global Gateway, built in Microsoft Azure, servicing our regional and global client base within the Insurance industry.

The is a global role, reporting into the Global Technical Data Manager.

Key Responsabilities:

• Creating and monitoring the security and performance of visual embedded content
• Interpreting data to gain insight and understanding from the datasets provided
• Creating and updating the global data model within our data warehouse
• Creating and updating the documentation of our data dictionary
• Designing and implementing logical data mappings
• Designing and implementing data exchanges with partners and third parties
• Maintaining security, performance, and data protection standards
• Documenting data requirements and providing input on the data warehouse architecture
• Collecting and analysing data for software process evaluation and improvements, and integrating into business processes to address the needs of the business
• Documenting all problems and assist in their resolution
• Gaining a strong understanding of the business operation
• Be an active member of the Scrum team, improving process and ensuring that the team delivers on their commitment

Knowledge and Experience:

• Important:
  • Experience of SQL, Data Factory, Elastic Query and the Azure portal.
  • Experience of working in an agile environment employing scrum methodology and JIRA as a SDLC management tool.
  • Experience with Data Visualisation tools such as Power BI or Tableau and accompanying platforms such as DAX Studio and Tabular editor.
  • Understanding of fact and dimensions and warehouse concepts
  • Knowledge of Machine Learning fundamentals.
  • Able to assimilate new information, understand complex topics and arrive at sound analysis and judgment.
  • Works effectively with both local and remote colleagues, collaborating, motivating, and energising others.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Continuously looking to improve and learn new technologies, participating actively in the development community, contributing to blogs, researching or Opensource.
  • Enjoys working in a fast-paced environment.
• Valuable:
  • Experience working in Data Analysis would be an advantage.
  • An understanding of application development best practices.
  • An understanding of JSON, C#, python and PowerShell.
